The Ministry of Home Affairs has been urged to investigate loopholes in screening and identifying eligible citizens in the ongoing voter registration exercise in border areas.

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is concern by reports suggesting that foreigners in such areas are registering as voters in the ongoing mobile voter registration exercise.

SACCORD Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says the Ministry of Home Affairs should therefore investigate such reports and establish the truth.

Mr. Cheembe says it is illegal and wrong for foreigners to register as Zambian voters.

He says this is because foreigners who register as voters will have the privilege which is only supposed to be the preserve of Zambian citizens.
