Government says it has paid about 80% of farmers who have supplied Maize to Food Reserve Agency.

Agriculture Deputy Minister Maxas Ng’onga says government will pay farmers all the outstanding arrears before the end of the year.
He says the delay in paying some farmers is due to some banks procedures.

Speaking in an interview, Mr. Ng’onga says the government is working hard to ensure that all farmers who have not yet received their money are paid before the end of the year.

The Deputy Minister has since appealed to farmers in the country not to panic stating that government has already secured funds to pay them.

Mr. Ng’onga states that the treasury last week released over 120 million kwacha to pay all the farmers last week.
