ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando
The Zambia Center for Inter Party Dialogue (ZCID) has warned that any misapplication of the law by relevant authorities has the potential to cause havoc in the political arena.
ZCID Executive Director Horrance Chilando has told QFM News that the decision by the Police service to interrupt opposition political activities and spare those of the ruling party is not the best way of doing things.
Mr. Chilando notes that this is not a campaign period and therefore the Electoral Code of Conduct is not in effect which makes it difficult to control activities of political parties.
He says to this effect, his organization is engaging the Police command to ensure that there is fair application of law without disadvantage any political party ahead of the 2016 elections.
Mr. Chilando says if the Police are preventing the opposition from party mobilization activities, they should as well prevent the ruling party from doing so, so that there is fairness in the political arena.
He also cautioned political parties against abrogating the law as a way of gaining political mileage saying it’s a bad way of doing politics.
