Hunger forces people in Kazungula to resort to eating wild fruits

Hunger in Kazungula District in Southern Province is reported to have escalated to levels where people have now resorted to eating wild fruits.

Kazungula Nyawa Ward Councillor Elias Siamibila has disclosed that due to the delay in distributing relief by government, people are now depending wild fruits such as Masuku and Mangoes to survive.

Mr. Siamibila has told Qfm News by telephone from Kazungula that levels of crime have also increased as a result of the escalating hunger situation in the District.

He says the people of Kazungula are wondering why government is not distributing the relief maize in the District when it is already 4 months in the distribution period.
Mr. Siamibila states that people in the District have had no food since August this year.
