PROTUZ calls on govt to pay newly recruited teachers settling-in allowances

The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has called on government to pay newly recruited teachers their settling-in allowances as they take up their new positions.

And the teacher union has advised newly recruited teachers against refusing to be posted to rural areas.

PROTUZ General Secretary Albert Muyembe says there is need for government through the Ministry of Education to release settling-in allowances for teachers to enable them settle in their various localities.

Mr. Muyembe tells QFM News that paying the teachers the allowances will also motivate them to work effectively and efficiently.

And Mr. Muyembe says when the recruited teachers where applying for the jobs they knew that one of the conditions was the likely of being posted anywhere including rural areas where their services will be needed.
