HH challenged over convention

United Party for National Development (UPND) President Hakainde Hichilema has been challenged to convene a convention to allow party members to democratically choose their leaders.

Evangelical Youth Alliance International Executive Director Moses Lungu says the UPND Leader must be seen promoting intraparty democracy by following the party constitution.

Reverend Lungu says the UPND will do well to educate the masses what their constitution says about having convention which they last had in 2006.

He says the UPND Leader must be courageous enough and arrange for a convention.

And Monze PF District Chairman Gilbert Mwila says there is need for the UPND to be transparent and accountable by holding a proper convention at which leaders can be chosen.

Mr. Mwila says if Mr. Hichilema is failing to respect UPND constitution it can be difficult for him to follow the Zambia’s constitution saying charity begins at home.

He says the UPND President should be above bold and call for a proper convention as there are members who aspires the UPND presidency.
