The Zambia National Teachers Union (ZNUT) says it wants to see the teachers that have been recruited in the teacher recruitment exercise deployed in good time.

ZNUT Public Relations Manager Joe Kasaka says come January when schools open, the teachers should be in schools they have been posted to and begin to work.

He says it would be sad to have a situation where teachers have been recruited and not deployed in good time citing that the whole purpose of the recruitment is for them to begin working.

Mr. Kasaka however states that they are glad that some teachers have been recruited but however points out that government should consider increasing the number next time as there a lot of teachers that have been left out.

He says there many teachers in the country who have stayed for too long and still do not have jobs hence the need to increase the number adding that this will help in reducing the levels of unemployment in the country and translate into poverty reduction.

He further states that they are looking forward to welcoming the teachers that have been recruited to their schools.
