FODEP urges govt to respond to challenges surrounding issuance of NRCs

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has appealed to those involved in the issuance of national registration cards to inform the ministry of home affairs if there any problems so that the minister can appropriately respond.

FODEP Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi says they expect the minister of home affairs to respond to any problems in the issuance of NRCs the same way he responded to the registration centers that had a problem with materials.

Mr. Chipenzi says if issues are brought out, the country will move forward as regards the issuance of NRCs citing that this will help in many people also obtain their voters cards during the extended voter registration exercise after obtaining their NRCs.

He has appealed to the minister of home affairs to also look into the issue of over age which many people have complained about adding that they must understand that Zambia life in rural areas is different from the in urban areas hence the people in rural areas should be understood.

Mr. Chipenzi has further commended the electoral commission of Zambia for extending the voter registration exercise stressing that this will help them capture as many people as possible.
