The 2018 Fifa World Cup Qualifier tie between Ghana and Comoros failed to produce a winner as both sides ended on a dull 0-0 draw on Friday afternoon at Stade International Saïd Mohamed Cheikh de Mitsamiouli in Comoros.

Although the visitors were seen as favourites going to the clash, the likes of Andre Ayew failed to grab a winner to boost their chances of making it into the group stages.

The hosts showed their intentions in the early stages of the encounter when Mohamed Soule nearly grabbed the lead as he struck the woodwork with a beautiful long range effort.

Although it remained goalless at the interval, the second stanza saw the Black Stars struggling to open up the hosts’ defence, having to manoeuvre on the artificial turf.

However, the Black Stars came so close twice in a matter of seconds as they hit the woodwork with goalkeeper Ben Boina beaten hands down.

They first had a chance through Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu, and Andre Ayew also came close to notching the lead.

With less than five minutes remaining, both nations failed to create goal scoring chances and they both settled for a goalless stalemate.

Avram Grant’s men will now have to rework their strategies and ensure they bag a win at home when they host Les Coelecantes next Tuesday, November 17, at Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi at 15:00.
