Livingstone Women Farmers bemoans price increases of chicken feed

The Livingstone Women Farmers Association has bemoaned the negative impact of constant increases in chicken feed prices on women poultry farmers.

Association Representative Ruth Henson says most of the increases in feed prices have been due to the depreciation of the kwacha.

She says feed prices increased twice in August and September respectively and once in October and November respectively.

Ms. Henson adds that it is most likely the price of feed will once again go up.

Ms. Henson is worried that if things continue to go the way they are going, the prices may go up beyond what most people in the poultry industry can afford.

She states that there is need to put measures in place to help stabilize the operational costs so that in turn the poultry products are affordable.
