Lungu appoints Mpundu as Commerce Deputy Minister

 

President Lungu has appointed and sworn-in Nchelenge PF Member of Parliament Raymond Mpundu as Commerce, Trade and Industry Deputy Minister.

The Nchelenge Lawmaker takes over from Matero MP Miles Sampa who resigned about two weeks ago.

Speaking during the swearing in ceremony at State House this morning, President Lungu has advised Mr. Mpundu to devise mechanisms of creating job opportunities through the department of cooperatives which is now under the ministry of Commerce.

President Lungu says the cooperative movement has potential to create employment for Zambians hence he transferred it to the Ministry of Commerce so that it can be used for that purpose.

President Lungu adds that he did not hesitate to appoint Mr. Mpundu when he looked at his CV an

d hopes he will do his level best in his new position.

And speaking to journalists shortly after being sworn-in, Mr. Mpundu says he is happy to join a team fighting hard to deal with the current economic challenges the country is facing.

Mr. Mpundu who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in economics says the country’s economy is bleeding and that he is happy to be part of the team trying to find solutions to the current challenges.
