Mamelodi Sundowns defender Hichani Himonde, has resurfaced back home in Zambia at Faz Super League club Nkwazi.

The 2012 Africa Cup winning defender has been training with the promoted Lusaka club for the last fortnight.

Himonde has struggled to hold down a place at Sundowns since joining them in January, 2014 from DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.

His future at Sundowns has been in doubt this season after coach Pitso Mosimane indicated that the Zambia defender was not in his plans for the 2015/2016 campaign.

Nkwazi club secretary Adrian Kashala said his club was interested in signing Himonde as soon they could establish his status at Sundowns.

“We are talking and he is willing to join us,” Kashala said.

“We are looking at permanent ownership of the player.

“However, we will need to firstly establish how he left the club in South Africa.”

Himonde spent most of 2014 back in Zambia from Sundowns on loan at defending FAZ Super League champions Zesco United.

The defender have not played for Zambia since June, 2014 in a 4-3 friendly loss away against Japan in Tampa, Florida.

His prospective move to Nkwazi could see him reunited with his former trainer at Lusaka Dynamos Elijah Chikwanda.
