Threats on media undermining Zambia’s democracy – FODEP

The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) says the threats on media houses offering platforms to citizen with divergent views are undermining the growth of multi party democracy in Zambia.

Executive Director Macdonald Chipenzi says such threats also have a bearing on public media which tends to take a restrained approach in disseminating information that is critical to government.

Mr. Chipenzi say FODEP is therefore waiting to see the outcome of the investigations Information and Broadcasting Minister Chishimba Kambwili said he has instituted on a local radio station to ascertain whether or not it is being influenced by a particular political party leader.

He has told QFM news that Mr. Kambwili has an obligation to inform the nation on the outcome of his investigations.
