The Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) has urged media houses to take advantage of the waived out duty on broadcasting equipment to upgrade to digital broadcasting.

MISA Zambia Chairperson Helen Mwale says in the past, it was very costly for anyone to set up a media house or even upgrade media houses in Zambia because of the duty on import machines.

Ms. Mwale says media houses now have a chance to import equipment that will last and advanced equipment that will make them give quality services to their audiences.

She adds that if media houses take advantage and import new equipment, it will play a part in helping media houses to meet the digital migration deadline.

Ms. Mwale further states however has urged media houses not to only rush to importing equipment but import that which is user friendly and can last long so that they can effectively continue to carry out their roles as media houses.
