SACCORD counsels Zambian media

Zambian media houses have been urged not to relent at playing their role in building peace and unity in the Country constructively.

The Southern African Center for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (SACCORD) is encouraging the Zambian media to become a shining example to the media of other countries in playing this role.

Executive Director Boniface Cheembe says his organization wants the media not to relent at playing the peace building role particularly now when preparations for 2016 general elections are underway.

Mr. Cheembe has cautioned the Zambian media to guard against falling in the trap other media fell in when they contributed to massive violation of human rights and fueling of conflicts in other Countries.

In an interview with Qfm News Mr. Cheembe who recently attended training in Egypt at the Cairo Center for Training on Conflict Resolution and Peace Keeping in Africa, has implored the media to strive at being factual in their reporting.

Mr. Cheembe says the media should give the public a true picture of what is transpiring in the country to enable them make informed decisions.
