Govt committed to consultative review of NGO Act

Government says it is committed to facilitating the process of reviewing the NGO Act through stakeholder’s engagement in a bid to enhance civil society participation in development.

Minister of Mother and Child Health Emerine Kabanshi says this is why the review process has taken the route of dialogue so that stakeholders can discuss and resolve areas of concern in the current NGO Act.

Ms. Kabanshi says the review will also guarantee active participation, social justice, environment and good governance for a smart Zambia and National development as a whole.

She says a stakeholders meeting to validate the compatibility report from a consultant who was hired on behalf of government by its partners the Germany International Cooperation is underway.

Ms. Kabanshi says this therefore is demonstrates government’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for NGOs to operate in Zambia.
