Pricing of goods and services in dollars worries BoZ

The Bank of Zambia (BOZ) is concerned that some business houses are pricing their goods and services in US dollars.

BOZ Governor Denny Kalyalya says if the dollar becomes the medium of transaction, then their existence as institution becomes questionable.

Dr. Kalyalya says those pricing their goods and services are working against efforts to stabilize the economy.

He adds that the pricing of goods and services in dollars is also building inflationary pressures.

Dr. Kalyalya says even in a free market economy, it is important that there is order and respect for the rule of law.
