Govt reminded of need to make public cost of new constitution

Government has been reminded of the importance of making public the cost of the current constitution making process to the treasury.

The Grand Coalition on the Campaign for the People Driven Constitution says government should tell the nation how much has been spent on the constitutional making process so far with the view of avoiding speculations, suspicions and being blamed unnecessarily.

Grand Spokesperson MacDonald Chipenzi says government should realize that without the actual figures, the public will be justified to assume that it is wasting public funds on the constitution making process.

He says it is worrying that the constitution process has dragged on with government seemingly unaware of how much is being spent on the process.

Mr. Chipenzi has told Qfm News by telephone that the Grand Coalition suspects that government does not care how much is being wasted on the process.

And when contacted for a comment, Justice Minister Ngosa Simbyakula could not give the actual amount government has so far spent on the current constitution making process promising to get back with exact figures.
