PROTUZ advises govt to listen to stakeholders on issues in the education sector

The Professional Teachers Union of Zambia (PROTUZ) has advised government to listen to stakeholders whenever they speak out on issues in the education sector.

PROTUZ Secretary General Albert Muyembe says the teachers had forewarned that Information Communication Technology (ICT) exams were not possible because schools did not have adequate computers coupled with the ongoing countrywide load shedding.

Mr. Muyembe however, notes that it is good that computer examinations will not be considered as a passing subject to grade 10.

He says government should wait until it has supplied schools with adequate computers before the subject can be considered as a passing subject to grade 10.

He points out that if the standards and conditions of examinations have to be improved in the country, government must work together with relevant stakeholders to ensure that all the loopholes existing in the education sector are eradicated.
