Source of funding for construction of national house of prayer questioned

Government has been challenged to state clearly where the money to construct the 7, 000 capacity inter denomination church will come from since it is not part of the 2016 National Budget.

Independent Management Consulting Services Ltd Director John Kasanga says it is important that the government tells the nation where it is getting the money to build such a huge facility amidst a suppressed economy.

Mr. Kasanga says government should consider the issue of the money to undertake such a venture or the land earmarked for the national cathedral will remain idle due to lack.

Mr. Kasanga states that government should have left the land in the hands of the Lusaka City Council to develop it for other purposes.

He says if government wanted a bigger place where people can meet and worship they can use churches such as the Blessings Center which is a 5, 000 seater capacity church.

Mr Kasanga adds that it is only in Zambia where the government gets involved in the construction of such a worship center, stating that such things only happens in autocratic states and not in a democratic nation like Zambia.
