US Ambassador to Zambia Erick Shultz has reminded Zambians that enacting a new a constitution through a referendum is quiet expensive.
Mr. Shultz says the people should just support the holding of a constitutional referendum alongside the 2016 general elections saying the country will save money.
Mr. Shultz says it is logical that holding a stand alone constitutional referendum may cost the nation huge sums of money than holding it alongside the general elections.
He has however stated that if the country wants to create a rational electoral system then the country can produce a constitution before next year’s elections.
Mr. Shultz says it is only fair that the government takes some non contentious clauses to parliament for possible amendment.
