The Foundation for Democratic Process (FODEP) has appealed to government to address the shortage of materials in the ongoing mobile issuances of National Registration Cards.

FODEP Executive Director MacDonald Chipenzi says Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila should not show signs of failure in the manner his ministry is implementing the NRC issuance exercise.

Mr. Chipenzi says while some parts of the country are lacking registration materials, government appears to be doing nothing about it.

He says the Ministry of Home Affairs should send the necessary materials to the affected areas so that the programme is not disrupted further.

Mr. Chipenzi notes that any distortion in the registration process will have an effect on the 2016 general election.

He states that it is government’s responsibility to ensure that youths who have reached the age of 18 acquire National Registration Card.
