MMD asks Lungu to deal with mining challenges

The opposition MMD says it expects President Edgar Lungu to resolve the issue of job losses in the mining industry during his working visit to the Copperbelt.

MMD Spokesperson Raphael Nakachinda says the problems facing the mining sector require serious practical solutions and not mere rhetoric.

Mr. Nakachinda says the PF government is known not to be serious when it comes to dealing with issues affecting the mining sector which has now resulted in a number of miners losing jobs.

He says there will be no excuses whatsoever after President Lungu’s working visit to the Copperbelt with regards resolving the issue of job cuts in the mining sector.

Mr Nakachinda says President Lungu has a golden opportunity to resolve issues with mine owners and the unions.

President Lungu yesterday left for the Copperbelt to begin a five day working visit.
