Zambia Youths Association in the Fight Against Corruption has advised President Edgar Lungu to fire Higher Education Minister Michael Kaingu saying he is becoming a threat to the growth of the education sector in the country.

ZYAFAC Executive Director Rickson Kanema tells QFM News via telephone that the manner in which Dr. Kaingu is handling issues affecting higher learning institutions is worrying.

He says Dr Kaingu is failing to find solutions to the current challenges in the higher education sector.

Mr. Kanema says it is not too late for President Lungu to relieve Dr. Kaingu of his duties before he does more harm to the education sector.

He says it is unacceptable that students are not learning because the government has not put things in order, citing the situation at the Copperbelt University.

And Mr. Kanema has condemned Police for beat up students at CBU for simply airing their grievances.

He says such Police brutality should not be condoned in Zambia.

And the opposition Fourth Revolution party is concerned that President Lungu is quiet about the challenges higher learning institutions are facing.

Party Deputy Spokesperson Sandy Sindazi says the failure by government to address the issues affecting students both at University of Zambia and Copperbelt University shows the lack of seriousness.
