President Edgar Lungu has been called upon to ensure issues affecting high learning institutions are addressed before the situation gets out of control.

Green Party President Peter Sinkamba says the Head of State should intervene in the impasse at the Copperbelt University by removing the University management before the situation gets out of hand.

Mr Sinkamba says he is disappointed that government sent Police officers to beat up and arrest innocent students who were peacefully demonstrating.

He says the treatment of CBU lecturers and students is an indication that the PF Government has not repented following the recently held national prayer and fasting.

Speaking in a telephone interview, Mr. Sinkamba says government must prove to the Zambian people that they have changed if they want the Zambian people to take them seriously.

He has since advised President Lungu to institute an investigation into the CBU impasse in order to find an amicable solution.

Mr Sinkamba says President Lungu should use his working visit to the Copperbelt to resolve issues surrounding the Copperbelt University.
