YALI advises MPs to deliver a constitution that serves interest of Zambians

Members of Parliament (MPs) have been advised to use their moral consciences to deliver a new constitution that will serve the best interests of the Zambian people.

The Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) is encouraging MPs to deliver a constitution which they themselves will be proud of.

YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says his organization is urging Members of Parliament to produce come with a new constitution with a few amendments from what is contained in the draft constitution.

Mr. Mwanza has also appealed to stakeholders urging Members of Parliament to reject the Constitution Amendment Bill to realize the need for Zambia to conclude the current constitution making process.

He has told Qfm News in an interview that Zambia needs a new constitution more than ever before 51 years after independence.

Mr. Mwanza states YALI will therefore make its submissions to the Parliamentary Committee on Governance and Legal Affairs with the view of seeing Zambia have a progressive constitution.
