Zambians urged to introspect need to attain economic independence as Zambia reaches 51

Zambians have been urged to introspect on the need to attain economic independence as they reflect on the country’s 51st Independence anniversary which falls tomorrow 24th October.

UPND president Hakainde Hichilema has particularly implored the Zambian people to reflect on a political party they know will enable them attain their much needed economic independence.

In an interview with Qfm News Mr. Hichilema has urged Zambians to consider the UPND which he says seeks to build on the country’s political independence once in power.

And MMD President Nevers Mumba says he will participate in the government led program for the Independence commemorations tomorrow Saturday in Lusaka.

Dr. Mumba has told Qfm News in a separate interview that this follows the formal invitations extended to him by President Edgar Lungu and the Secretary to the Cabinet.

He however stated that by attending the government led independence commemorations, it does not mean that the MMD agrees with everything that the PF government is doing.

Meanwhile FDD Spokesperson Antonio Mwanza says his party feels the Independence Day should be a day that all Zambians should commemorate whether they support the party in government or the opposition.

Mr. Mwanza states that people should use Independence Day to reflect on the struggle of the forefathers who liberated the country from colonial rule.

He says Zambia should also reflect on the need for Zambia to attain economic independence.
