Implementation of K210M worth Agric service center project underway

The implementation of the European Union (EU) funded K210 million Agriculture service center project has been officially launched at a ceremony held in Lusaka today.

The Agriculture service center project which will see the setting up of six Agriculture one stop shops in the country will benefit about 90, 000 farmers in accessing affordable and qualify farming inputs.

Speaking during the launch, Zambia National Farmers’ Union (ZNFU) Acting Deputy Director Ellah Chembe expressed optimism that the implementation of the project will act as a precursor for improving Zambia’s Agriculture export base.

Ms. Chembe says with this project, Zambian Agriculture produce will now be able to penetrate markets of neighboring countries such as the Democratic Republic of Congo.

And EU Head of Delegation, Alessandro Mariani whose union has pumped in K180 million in the implementation of the project has reaffirmed the EU’s support to Zambia’s Agriculture sector.

Ambassador Mariani states that the EU has decided to support this sector because it understands that Agriculture is at the heart of the Zambian people.
