Govt in deep sorrow over death of Muvi’s Agness Jere

Government says it has learnt with deep shock and sorrow the death of a Muvi television journalist, Agness Jere, aged 28, who died after she was hit by a speeding motor vehicle in Ndola’s Lubuto Township yesterday.

Information and Broadcasting Services Minister Chishimba Kambwili in a statement says Death of Ms Jere has robbed the nation of a young and brilliant talent who contributed immensely to the journalism profession.

Mr Kambwili has since wished the bereaved family God’s strength and comfort during this trying moment.

He has also conveyed Government’s condolences to the staff and management at Muvi Television and the media fraternity at large, on the untimely death of Ms Jere.

Mr Kambwili says it is Government’s conviction that accidents of this nature would be minimized to a large extent if motorists observed the laid down traffic rules and regulations.

And the Council of Churches says it feels the pain and is saddened at the loss of a young energetic Journalist who contributed to the development of the media especially on the Copperbelt immensely.

CCZ General Secretary Suzanne Matale has since conveyed heartfelt condolences to the immediate family of Ms Jere and also to the wider family of the media fraternity in the country.

Reverend Matale has encouraged the family to remain strong and not to give up praying, trusting and believing God’s infinite wisdom to see them through this difficult time.
