The Grand Coalition on the Campaign for the People Driven Constitution says putting in place a legal framework for the current constitution making process still remains one of its key demands.

The Grand Coalition is concerned that without a legal framework, funds being allocated towards enactment of the new constitution will not be protected from misuse.

Chairperson Leonard Chiti says this is given the Patriotic Front government’s history of back peddling on its own promises made to the people.

Father Chiti states that to this effect, the Coalition would like to see a report of how last year’s allocation towards the enactment of the new constitution was utilized.

He has told Qfm News in an interview that the Grand Coalition wants government to show whether or not allocations made towards the new constitution in national budgets do actually follow some actions.

Father Chiti says that the interest of the Coalition is to see that there is accountability in how these funds are being used.
