JCTR welcomes e-voucher system

The Jesuit Center for Theological Reflection (JCTR) has welcomed the launch of the pilot e-voucher system for the Farmer Input Support Programme (FISP).

JCTR Executive Director Leonard ChFr Chitiiti says his organization welcomes the launch of the e-voucher system because it believes that the issue of middlemen in accessing farming inputs by farmers has been addressed.

Father Chiti has told Qfm News that the issue of middlemen in the supply of FISP farming inputs is one issue the JCTR has taken note as being one of the hindrances to prompt access to farming inputs by farmers.

He says it is therefore hoped that the e-voucher system will be spread to all parts of the country after it has been piloted in the 13 Districts that have been selected.

Father Chiti adds that the JCTR also expects that capacity will be created among farmers to enable them make use of the system given the fact its use is dependent on having internet services.

He has advised that if however this capacity among farmers does not exist, government should consider designing a short course for farmers on the use of the e-voucher system.
