Don’t be discouraged,EFZ implores Zambians

The Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) has allayed fears that the declared day of prayer and fasting is linked to Satanism.

EFZ Executive Director Reverend Pukuta Mwanza says the rumor is mere superstition aimed at frustrating people and discouraging them from taking part in the prayer and fasting.

Rev Mwanza says October 18th has nothing to do with the mark of the beast and hence people should not allow aPukuta Mnyone to mislead them not to participate in the prayer and fasting.

He explains that prayers can be conducted any day and anytime regardless of what the devil is planning, adding that the devil did not create any of the seven days.

Rev. Mwanza says what is important is for people to know who they are praying to, stressing that people will be praying to God on the 18th of October and not to the devil and hence it does not matter what plans the devil has.

He has since encouraged Zambians not to pay attention to any rumors aimed at misleading and discouraging them from participating in the prayer and fasting.

Meanwhile Governance Activist, Maurice Malambo says the message circulating linking 18th October to the mark of the beast 666 is a misinterpretation of the Bible and deserves to be treated with the contempt it deserves.

Mr. Malambo says people opposed to the declaration of the prayer and fasting day either lack understanding or are merely opposed to the leadership of President Edgar Lungu.
