Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) says it shares the frustration expressed by Auditor General Anna Chifungula over the failure by law enforcement agencies to prosecute perpetrators of misappropriation of public funds.
TIZ Executive Director Goodwell Lungu says his organization thinks it is high time controlling officers who fail to account for public funds started being dismissed.
Mr. Lungu has particularly called upon President Edgar Lungu to show leadership on this matter and dismiss such officers as a deterrent measure for would be offenders.
He says this is the only way cases of misappropriation of public funds as revealed by the Auditor General’s annual audit reports will be curbed.
