Govt urged to expedite recruitment of teachers

Government has been urged to expedite the recruitment process for 5,000 teachers.

Zambia National Union of Teachers(ZNUT)North-Western province General Secretary, James Musolokoto says government should speedy up the process owing to the low staffing levels in the education sector.

Mr. Musolokoto says rural schools are the most affected with teachers in those areas being made to toil.

He states that most rural schools have three teachers on average.

Meanwhile Mr. Musolokoto is concerned with the small number of teachers who are being sponsored by government to advance their education studies.

He says inadequate sponsorship from government is compelling teachers to get loans for education advancement purposes.
