Creation of new Ministries is ill timed- OYV

The Operation Young Vote (OYV) says it finds the creation of five more Ministries by President Edgar Lungu to be ill timed.

Executive Director Guess Nyirenda says this is given the extreme economic hurdles that Zambia is currently going through.

Mr. Nyirenda has told Qfm News in a statement that his organization suspects that at the decision by President Lungu is also a sign that less thought or none at all was put to finalizing this decision by either the advisors or the Principal himself.

He says that the OYV does not see any justification for the creation of extra ministries at the time the cost of living is unbearable for citizens.

Mr. Nyirenda states that the current economic crisis demands that government cuts some expenses at all costs.

He notes that his organization is puzzled that whiles the writings are clear on the wall on the need to cut unnecessary expenditure government has decided to do the exact opposite.

Mr. Nyirenda says his organization also finds it awkward and disappointing that the Vice President Inonge Wina has been appointed Minister of Planning.

He notes that apart from being exhausted in terms of age to manage the two demanding poliforlios, the OYV thinks that it is greed and selfish politics and leadership that on the same platform Ms. Wina will have to stand as Vice President and then switches to the position of Minister of Planning.
