ZESCO refutes claims Lukulu and Shangombo are in darkness

Zesco Limited has refuted claims that it has subjected the people of Lukulu and Shangombo districts to total darkness.

Zesco Spokesperson Henry Kapata says it is misleading for some media houses to suggest that the power utility company has neglected the people of Lukulu and Shangombo with regards the supply of power.

Mr. Kapata says to the contrary, Lukulu will be one of the districts to benefit from the connection to the national grid soon.

He has disclosed to QFM News that currently ZESCO uses about 2, 700 liters of diesel per day to supply power to its 1,070 customers in Lukulu from 06hrs to midnight.

He says as for Shangombo, the district has a customer base of two hundred and seventy nine who require about 800 liters of diesel per day.

Mr. Kapata says this is a clear indication that the company is committed to providing power to the named districts without favor.
