The “We Have Faith Pan-African Campaign for Climate Justice” cyclists will tomorrow head to Chipata on their way to Malawi in their continued global act now for climate justice campaign.

The cyclists started from Maputo in Mozambique then headed to South Africa – Pretoria and later on went to Gaborone before passing through Zimbabwe.

The team, which leaves Lusaka tomorrow at 7:30hrs, will be going to Lilongwe before reaching Dar – Es – Salaam and later on Nairobi.

The Youth Cycling Caravan team is a group of ten professional youth cyclists who are cycling across nine countries from Mozambique to Nairobi, Kenya covering a total of approximately 6, 000km in 90 days.

The objective of the campaign is to mobilize communities across the African continent, raise awareness on climate change and support their engagement with COP21 policy discourse through collection of one million petitions.

And Zambia’s core cyclist, Allen Namukamba, says from the experience he is having in the pan-African We Have Faith Act Now Campaign, he will start a cycling club that will ride for climate change awareness during competitions and around his community!

Namukamba, a former charcoal producer and vendor, says his dreams to advance his engagement in the protection of trees and the environment will probably come true when he returns from Chipata and arrives home in Lisitu.

He has targeted about 72 villages in Munenga.

Namukamba says he uses some of his spare time on temporal jobs, such as assembling bicycles for business people at Chirundu.

Tomorrow Namukamba will be joined by the Twin Palm Bike Club as the Zambian leg of the campaign heads to the border with Malawi, where several ‘green’ activities are lined up in Chipata on 7th before crossing the boundary and handing over the baton over to Malawi and its set of cyclists on 8th October.
