UPND Leader Hakainde Hichilema says his party is against calls by some stakeholders for the government to reintroduce legislation that contributed to damaging the country’s economy, as a way to help the Kwacha regain lost ground.

Mr. Hichilema says he does not see, for example, any value in reintroducing the Bank of Zambia Statutory Instrument No. 55 of 2013 which other stakeholders are urging the government to consider invoking.

In an interview with Qfm News, Mr. Hichilema recalls that when this Statutory Instrument was earlier introduced, it ended up damaging the economy and weakening the Kwacha.

Mr. Hichilema says what the UPND wants is to ensure that the Zambian economy grows.

He states that his party understands that the growth of an economy emanates from good investments and business policies.
