Hamaundu hopes lessons have been learnt from economic crisis

Financial Analyst Mambo Hamaundu says he hopes that government will now heed to calls of diversifying the country’s economy and stop depending on copper as a major exporting earning.

Mr. Hamaundu has told QFM News in an interview that this is because of the poor performance of the kwacha against the major currencies due to over-dependence on copper.

Mr. Hamaundu says a lot has been said about Zambia considering to diversify the economy and stop depending on copper as a major export earning.

Mr. Hamaundu says there is need for Zambia to improve on non-traditional exports saying this will help support to strength the Zambian currency.

He has also observed that the people in government seem not to be doing anything in controlling the situation saying there is little done by them and that they are not inspiring confidence in the economy.

He adds that the decline in both traditional and non-traditional exports specifically for this year should be a source of concern to all Zambians.
