The opposition United Party for National Development (UPND) has charged that President Lungu should have cut short his New York trip to attend to pressing issues if he has a heart for the people he governs.

UPND Chairperson for Rural Reconstruction and Development Mapani Moono has told QFM News that it is not making sense that the Head of State was enjoying himself in USA when the country’s economy is collapsing at a fast pace.

Mr. Moono states that government should also stop issuing empty statements on the continued depreciation of the kwacha against major currencies saying Zambia is in dire need of serious interventions of arresting the situation.

He says the PF government should be worried that under their administration the kwacha has gone as high as K13 against a single US Dollar saying their policies are not working well.

Meanwhile, Mr. Moono has expressed concern that youths in Southern, North Western and Western Provinces are being turned back when they go to obtain National Registration Cards.

He has disclosed that officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs are only opening their registration centers after 14hrs in the three provinces and wonders why this situation is only in the three provinces.

He has since called on Home Affairs Minister Davies Mwila to clarify why this situation is happening in the three provinces.
