Transparency International Zambia (TIZ) has described as ill-advised remarks attributed to ruling UPND Deputy Secretary General Gertrude Imenda urging the Anti-Corruption Commission to concentrate on old corruption cases instead of focusing on new corruption cases under the new dawn administration.

TI-Z President Sampa Kalunga tells Q-news that the UPND Deputy Secretary General is not the right person to tell the ACC how it should conduct its investigations.

Mr Kalungu states that certain statements have the potential to negatively impact on the commission’s work.

He says if the Anti-Corruption Commission heeds to the advice of Ms Imenda, it will mean the commission can only deal with cases of corruption being committed now under the new dawn administration in future a situation he describes as unreasonable.

Mr. Kalunga has therefore advised the UPND administration to stick to the business they know best of politics and leave issues to do with the fight against corruption to the anti-corruption commission.
