The Road Transport and Safety Agency (RTSA) has increased bus fares by 1 kwacha 50 ngwee for local routes and 3 kwacha for inter-mine Copperbelt routes as well as Lusaka peri-urban routes effective TODAY, July 12,2022.

In a statement, RTSA Head Public Relations Fredrick Mubanga says the agency has approved the request by bus operators to increase bus fares, pursuant to Section 108 (11) of the Road Traffic Act No. 11 of 2002.

Mr. Mubanga says this follows a consultative meeting with bus operators held last week.

He has since guided bus operators to revise the bus fare charts and display in all the buses accordingly.

The adjustment in bus fares comes in the wake of the increase in the fuel pump prices by K1.80 per litre for petrol and K2.37 per litre for diesel announced by the ERB effective 1st July, 2022.
