A Nakonde based mobile money agent is nursing two gunshot wounds in the left leg after being shot by armed robbers who attempted to snatch k100,000 cash from him.
Muchinga province Police Deputy Commanding Officer, Lucky Buumba who confirmed the incident which happened in the late hours of yesterday has named the victim as 23-year-old Simon Halaba.
Ms Bumba has narrated that Halaba was driving home after knocking-off from work and as he approached his house, he heard gun shots which he did not pay attention to, but later realized that his windscreen was shattered by a purported bullet.
She says from nowhere, four unidentified men appeared and grabbed the victim’s phone including the bag which contained the said money.
Ms Bumba states that despite the victim being shot twice in the left leg, he still managed to wrestle with the criminals and managed to retrieve the bag that contained the money.
She says Halaba is currently in the hospital receiving treatment while the said criminals are suspected to have bolted into neighboring Tanzania.
