Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) president Andrew Kamanga has described as grossly unfortunate the statement by CAF that they were not aware of Barbra Banda’s ineligibility for the morocco 2022 Africa cup of nations for women (WAFCON).

Kamanga says FAZ is taken aback by the position of the confederation of African football that seemed to disown its own processes.

He says the statement by CAF was a grossly unfair because all the federations participating in the tournament have been subjected to the competition rules which have been set by CAF.

Kamanga states that FAZ was compelled to deal with medical requirements as part of eligibility, adding that whatever they do is part and parcel of what CAF requires.

He says FAZ did not exclude any player but in this case followed CAF regulations as prescribed by CAF.

Kamanga has stressed the need for CAF to apply the same standard used across various leagues and FIFA competitions for consistency since the excluded players remain eligible to play in their leagues.

He notes that regrettably, the players being denied an opportunity to showcase their skills on African soil have been free to play at FIFA and international olympique committee organized competitions that deploy a less stringent standard.

Meanwhile kamanga has urged the nation to rally behind the copper queens despite the challenges the team has faced in their chase for continental glory, as FAZ engage the authorities in the background.

The copper queens will later this evening take on Tunisia in their second group b encounter.

Meanwhile Football analyst Gershom Simukoko says Zambia’s Copper Queens stand equal chances of winning tonight’s match against Tunisia at the on-going Morocco 2022 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament.

Zambia who recorded a barren draw against tournament favorites Cameroon in their opening match will lock horns with Tunisia who beat Togo 4-1 in their opening fixture.

Simukoko has told Q-sports that Tunisia’s win will not demotivate the Cooper Queens because they have every reason to believe in themselves after putting up a stellar performance against the Indomitable Lionesses.
