The Council of Churches (CCZ) in Zambia has spoken against freelance preachers who preach the word of God to the traveling public on intercity buses.

CCZ General Secretary Emmanuel Chikoya says he shares the concerns of the traveling public with regards freelance preachers because it is not known were they are coming from and who has sent them and are therefore not accountable to anyone.

Fr. Chikoya notes that most of these buses have Christians and non-Christians on board, therefore when a preacher is preaching, they are not necessarily preaching to Christians only, hence the rights of other people on board should be respected and not infringed upon.

He has since stressed the need to bring order and sanity.

Recently, the Commuters Rights Association of Zambia (CRAZ) called for the banning of preachers on buses saying they are inconveniencing passengers especially those that are not Christians.
