No apology for unfulfilled promises, it’s too early-Nalumango

Republican Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the new dawn UPND government has nothing to apologize for regards the unfulfilled campaign promises as it has not failed to deliver yet.

 Speaking during the vice presidents question and answer session in parliament, Mrs. Nalumango stated that the new dawn government has only been in government for 9 months and hence it is not expected that it can fulfill all the campaign promises during this short period.

Mrs. Nalumango has assured that the new dawn UPND government will fulfill all the campaign promises in due course ,further stating that it is so far doing well as there is stability ion many aspects in the country.

She was responding to questions from Nakonde Member of Parliament, Lukas Simumba who wanted to know if the new dawn government will apologize to the people of Zambia for its failure to so far deliver on its campaign promises.

And on the increased fuel prices the vice president stated that the issue of fuel is a factor beyond the control of government as it is determined by the international prices.

Meanwhile Mrs. Nalumango says government has not made any decision to sale state owned mobile company ZAMTEL as is being reported some sections of society.

The vice president emphasized that zamtel will be recapitalized and not sold, explaining that no talks around the sale of zamtel took place when science and technology minister Felix Mutati visited the firm last month, hence wondering here the issue of the selling of zamtel is coming from.

She was responding to Kabushi Member of Parliament Bowman Lusambo who sought for clarity over the issue.

Meanwhile Mrs. Nalumango says president Hichilema’s foreign trips have resulted in renewed confidence and good will from the international community adding that the trips have strengthened bilateral and multilateral relations between Zambia and the international community.

This was in response to a question by leader of the opposition Brian Mundubile who wanted to find out when the president will undertake a trip to china so that he can engage the creditors.

And Mrs. Nalumango said government has not looked down on china and that it appreciates relations with that country.

She pointed out that president Hichilema has had engagements with the Chinese government at different levels and that china is on board with other creditors in finding a solution to Zambia’s debt crisis.
