Canada gives Zambia 950,350 doses of J&J vaccines

Zambia has so far received over 17 million doses of COVID 19 vaccines since the outbreak of the pandemic.

And the country has today received a donation of 950,350 doses of J and J vaccines from the government of Canada.

Speaking when he received the donation at the Kenneth Kaunda international Airport , Ministry of health permanent secretary in charge of technical services Professor Lackson Kasonka disclosed that so far 41 percent of the eligible population representing over 4.4 million people have been fully vaccination.

He has expressed gratitude to the Canadian government for the donation which he says will greatly contribute to the country’s vaccination drive which targets 70 percent of the eligible population.

And speaking earlier, Canada high commission head of office Counselor Jenny Hill disclosed that the donated vaccines will expire in 2023 thereby giving chance to a lot of people to get vaccinated.

And WHO country Representative Nathan Bakyaita stressed the need for enhanced partnerships in encouraging vaccination amongst eligible citizens.
