GEARS happy with peaceful campaigns in Mongu and Mkushi

The Governance, Elections, Advocacy and Research services-GEARS initiative has noted with gratitude the peaceful campaigns that have characterized the electoral activities ahead of the two local government by-elections slated for tomorrow, 30 June 2022 in Mongu and Mkushi districts.

Organization Executive Director Mcdonald Chipenzi in a statement issued said the new way of conducting and behaving in by-elections seems to have dawned in Zambia.

Mr. Chipenzi has since encouraged all participating political parties to remain responsible and respectful to each other as the voting starts tomorrow.

Further, Mr. Chipenzi has urged the electoral commission to also set the date for the pending vacancies at Luangwa district council and at one of the wards at Chienge district council following the court decision to nullify the election of the Luangwa district chairperson and the resignation of the incumbent ward councilor in Chienge council respectively
