Govt urged to constitute an internal security Task force  to protect persons with albinism

Disability Rights Watch has called on the Minister of Home Affairs and Internal Security to constitute an internal security taskforce to protect persons with albinism in view of the continued attacks on this grouping.

Organisation national coordinator Bruce Chooma tells Q-news that this taskforce should ensure thorough investigations into attacks on persons with albinism and establish who the people interested in albino parts are.

Mr. Chooma is concerned with the slow pace at which law enforcement agencies are investigating such attacks, with perpetrators not being brought to book.

Commenting on the recent incident where a 10-year old boy of Mkushi had his forefinger brutally chopped-off, Mr. Chooma has challenged law enforcement agencies to bring the perpetrators to book.

And Albinism Foundation of Zambia technical advisor John Chiti who has strongly condemned the latest attack on the albino boy.

Mr Chiti laments that the perpetrators are now targeting children.

Mr. Chiti who is also a member of the Zambia Police Service Commission has urged parents and guardians to children living with albinism to ensure their by not leaving them unattended to or with only their fellow kids.
