Historian Bizeck Phiri has doubted the UPND Alliance partners will stick together up to the 2026 elections.

Professor Phiri says from the look of things, the UPND Alliance is getting weaker owing to the apparent conflict that has erupted within its ranks over positions.

He however, states that this does not translate into the UPND becoming weak.

Professor Phiri tells QTV news that though the UPND Alliance is getting weak, the UPND as a party remains strong.

He has since advised the UPND Alliance Partners to understand that they had formed an Alliance with the UPND and not a Coalition government.

Professor Phiri says an alliance is not the same as a Coalition government where after elections; none of the Political Parties wins out rightly to form a government thereby necessitating the formation of n coalition government where portfolios are shared among coalition partners.

He says on the contrary, Zambia has only a UPND led government, therefore the UPND Alliance partners should not think they are in an alliance to get positions.
